The Ides of March

The Ides of March are almost upon us and it looks like we might have a chance at warming back up before then? We have had another roller coaster ride for weather here in NE Ohio. Mid fifties for Monday and Tuesday followed by high winds and 6-8″ of snow on Wednesday. Now it is a beautiful morning with sunshine and temps in the single digits! Calling for mid fifties again by tomorrow afternoon. That may be hitting for the cycle in the weather game! This is also the perfect game for those making maple syrup and it should give them another good run of sap this weekend. There have been some new arrivals that would indicate that spring is actually going to come this year. I have seen three vultures this week and several huge flocks of robins. I would think that they were second guessing that whole “early bird” thing yesterday but they are sure signs of better things to come for our weather. We have been working our timber harvest over the last week and it is looking good for the firewood process. We are covered for at least the next couple of winters and I would guess that a few of our friends will be as well. The mud has found us again this week and with any luck we will start to dry out a bit after this newest snow melts away! The shed hunting has also came to a stop for a couple of days but I feel fairly confident that they antlers are pretty well all shed and waiting for us to find them.
