“Year of the Drop Tines”

We are enjoying our new found moisture and what a difference it is making for us. The food plots are looking great again and all of the plant life seems to have come back to life. The discovery of acorns this week was also a huge thing for the deer and hunters as well. While there does not look to be a bumper crop at least we are finally spotting a few acorns on the older trees. The size is a little small but the warm rains may help them to fill out before we get our first frost.

The velvet is getting tighter every day and within the next three weeks the bucks should all be done with growth for the summer. Mervin was over helping this week and he mentioned the number of great bucks sporting drop tines. It does not take much stand time before the drop tines start showing up and it is lining up to be one exciting fall! Now we just need our cooler temperatures to return and we can turn our thoughts to evening hunts in the tree stand!
