We had our season start last week just in time for the temperatures to climb back into the 90’s! Just in case that that wasn’t enough we added about 95% humidity. To say the trophy bucks were shut down is an understatement but with the high temps comes thunderstorms and that made the difference for us. With a nice down pour behind us already and another just getting ready Dan finally had his chance and took our first buck of the 2016 season and what a kick-off. We are on the board with our first 300” trophy buck!
The weather has finally broke and we are back down to more normal September temperatures. All of the mature bucks have pretty much shed their velvet and they still look really impressive. I have added some new Covert Scouting cameras and should have even more great trail photos as the season continues. I had our first photo this week of two mature bucks sparring and it will not be long until they begin to get serious about it.
