Rut 2015

The weather has been perfect for late October and the trophy bucks are acting perfectly as well. We have had heavy rains and high winds which removed most of our color from the trees. The loss of the leaves has provided us with greater distance for spotting approaching deer.

The bucks that we were calling in last week are now more focused on checking does and staying on the move. We had three great hunts to finish our October. We took our first buck with the new Horton Storm and Gayle took a great 202” typical. We then made the move back to the Ten Point crossbow and Gary took a heavy massed 215” trophy. Then to close out the week Jimmy took his first crossbow deer another great 215” buck with the Horton Storm. Our hunts continue to roll as the deer move into the full blown rut. This is the time of year to be in the woods all day when possible. The bucks are chasing hard and you never know when your next deer will show up or when a trophy will show up that you have never seen before. If the mature bucks are ever going to make a mistake it is now.
