Peepers!

It has been another great week of spring here in Northeast Ohio. The peepers finally started filling the evening air with their sounds of spring and our morning temps have for the most part stayed in the mid-thirties for lows. The ice on the rivers has pretty much came off of the water but there are still places with massive ice layers built up on the shoreline. Our last five days have been filled with steelhead fishing and it has really started off great this season. There are fair numbers of fish in the rivers now and if you can take the cooler starts to the morning the fish are available. Anthony joined me for two days and Rich also came in for a few days on the river. We have all taken our turns with the catching and it has been a pretty consistent bite so far this year. Rich and I also had a chance to help coach a young lady to her first steelhead yesterday and it is always fun to share time with the younger anglers. Wesley took a great male with her fly rod and it will only be the first of many for her.The turkeys are still busy getting into the full swing of the spring and the groups have finally started to break up. I have been seeing groups of 8-10 birds now and this should be more like what we will have once the season opens in two weeks.
