Greener Pastures!

As April is coming to a close, it is interesting to see how much of a change has occurred the last 30 days. Our ramps are ready for harvesting, the May apples are up. The bushes and apple trees are popping. The hills have a green tint to them. We are still getting a frost every now and then but the high temps are reaching near eighty degrees. Bring on those May flowers! The bucks are all showing some antlers now and there are several that have already split off the brow tines. They all look shaggy right now as the shed their winter hair for the redder shades of summer but they are as ready as we are for the warmer weather! I will try to get the trail cameras going soon. The steelhead fishing has been slow up until this week with the water levels being low. The fish that have been in the streams for a while are pretty beat up. We have had rain for a couple of days and this should bring the water levels up enough to bring in some fresh fish from the lake. The turkey hunting continues to be a very challenging task this season. The gobblers scream one day and do not make a sound the next. I have seen hens out in the early morning by themselves with no signs of a gobbler. I guess we will just push forward and try to keep up with all of the changes this year.
