There is nothing quite as nice as your first eighty degree sunny day after a long winter! We have had a great week in the seventies and eighties mixed with sunshine and rain. When we had our first thunderstorm of the season roll thru this week you could almost see the trees and grass growing! Everything seems happier when it is sunny and warm. The spring food plots have been prepared and should be planted by early this week. The apple blossoms are coming on quickly and with a bit of luck we can hold off the late frost this year!
The turkeys have remained a winner for our last three hunters. They may or may not gobble on the limb and then nothing on the ground once they have flown down. We have been seeing the birds from a distance but they do not seem at all interested. We have one more shot this week and hopefully we can show off one more successful hunter before the season ends.
The water temps have been steadily increasing and the steelhead will be moving back out to the lake as soon as they can get enough water to begin the journey. It was a pretty good season for them this spring and seemed to stretch a little longer than the past two years.
Our bucks continue to show some great progress and you can make out the antler from quite a distance now. There are a couple of them starting to push their T-2’s now and it will not be long until we can begin to see some actual main frames.
