Wet Spring

They rains continue to pour on us and the temps are staying on the cool side. We actually had a light frost over the weekend and hopefully it will not damage the few apple blossoms we had already. The cold winter seems to have taken a toll on the apple trees this spring and the blossoms are either really coming late or not coming at all this year.

The food plots that we finished up last week ahead of the rains are all getting green now and a little warm weather would sure help them now. It is also getting right at the time when we should be seeing our first fawns of the season and they also would do better if the temps would get into the seventies.

The bucks are all looking good and the younger bucks are starting to push their main beams around toward the front. The older mature bucks take a little longer at this stage because of the extra mass that they are adding. Once they have the bases under them they will catch up with the younger bucks and continue growing longer.

The warblers are still moving through this area on the spring migration and it is great to see the added color in the trees even if they only last for a short time.
