Schools Out!

I believe that most of our local schools in NE Ohio are now out for the summer! They had multiple make up days from our long winter but finally made it. The weather here has been absolutely perfect with the temps in the seventies and eighties during the day and plenty of sunshine. We also had a nice all day soaker yesterday that produced just over an inch of rain in about eight hours.
The food plots are feeling the effects from the weather and all look great. Like the school kids it took us a while to get them done but they now can go crazy for the summer. Our apple crop has turned out pretty bad for this year and a double check this week only found two or three trees with limited numbers of apples. The red oaks are developing nicely and hopefully they can make up for the apple loss.
The trophy bucks of 2014 are starting to stand out now. During our recent rain we spotted several mature bucks out early in the evening and they are looking great. A couple already had started their T-2’s and one is even started on a T-3. The plan is to get the trail cameras out this week and we should have photos to share something soon. If they keep progressing I would guess that our bucks will be similar to last year with several well over 200” and hopefully a couple making it over 300”!
