September Arrives!

We are closing in quickly on our hunting season and the trophy bucks are getting ready. The velvet is coming off quickly now and I would guess that about two thirds are now clean. This change along with the shorter daylight and dropping temps will most likely trigger the start of the fall movements. This means that sometime over the next three weeks that buck you have been watching all summer will be changing his habits. Welcome to deer hunting in Ohio! Same thing happens every year about this time and you need to adjust your hunting plans accordingly.

With the new hard antlers we have started to estimate our trophy bucks and it looks right now like we will have several in the mid 200” range. There are also two of these that should push the 300” mark. The leaves are starting to turn on the early trees and the air sure does have a feel of fall now. What a great time of year to be a hunter!
