We are officially hunting in 2014! We had our first hunt this last week and started off the year with a great 258” Trophy Whitetail. We were joined by Ted on his second visit to hunt Ohio whitetails. What an exciting three days we had hunting and visiting. We started off with the temperatures dropping from the high seventies into the fifties with rain or mist all day. This favorable drop in temperature combined with the mature bucks being hard antlered made for some exciting moments in the stand. We were treated to bucks rubbing trees and bushes, bucks chasing does, and bucks rattling their new hardened headgear! The hunt was capped off on Friday morning when we finally spotted a mature buck with a great typical mainframe feeding on acorns. He surprised us as he chased another mature buck out of sight and into the sanctuary. As we discussed what we had just witnessed in early September they came charging back into view as quickly as they had left. Ted made a great shot with his muzzle loader and we were soon admiring a great trophy buck!
