Finally another beautiful week in NE Ohio! The rains cleared out and the last five days has been as good as it gets in our area. The weather changed just in time for our ole friend Joe to arrive this year with his son Jacob. We had arranged to bow hunt and that means time in the ladder stands.
Jacob was the first to get things rolling when he arrowed a great 175” perfect 5x5 with zero extras! This buck was slightly better on his left side but otherwise a perfect ten! Joe decided to pass up a nice buck on the first day and we were starting to think that he might have made a mistake when we woke up on the fourth morning and still did not have a buck! The bucks are starting to chase really good now and the overall movement in good throughout the entire day. The excitement comes in when the bucks come close by the stand only to run after another buck or unsuspecting doe. The fall air is truly filled with those sounds of music that a hunter loves to hear. Grunts, doe bleats, antlers rattling, geese in the evening sky and acorns dropping. While it is always exciting this time of year here at Oak Ridge it goes over the top when you close the deal on a special 186” buck on the fourth day of your three day hunt! Thanks for a great four days guys we are looking forward to next year!
