Name the New Stand

It is getting to be that time of year when the trophy bucks are dropping antlers and the cabin fever is setting in on everyone. If you are not one of the lucky ones that travel south for a break every winter February can be a long month in NE Ohio. We have been working on our inside projects while it is snowy and bitter cold outside. One of these projects is to get a jump on our new enclosed stand for 2015. One question that came up was what are we going to name it? Our other stands all have names and this one should also have a clever name. The other five enclosed stands are the “Ramp Patch, Shadow Hunter, Trophy Trailer, Condo, and Truck Stand”. All of which were named after many a long discussion between my friends and I. For this new stand I thought it would be fun to recruit some help from our faithful followers.

The “Name the New Stand Contest” will run until March 1, 2015. You can call or email your name and the suggested New Stand name. (One entry per person) I will compile the complete list and turn them over to three of my associates for judging. The Judges will rank their Top 5 choices and turn them back to me. These Top 5 will be awarded points as follows: #1 – 10 pts, #2- 8 pts, #3 – 6 pts, #4 – 4 pts, #5 – 2 pts. The total points for each name will be totaled and the Top 3 finalist will go back to the Judges.

All of the Top 3 Finalist will receive an engraved antler pen with their name and the New Stand Name winner will received a $100 Cabelas gift certificate. The winning name will also be laser engraved and attached to the new stand.

This stand is 6’x8’ and will be located in the current Trophy Trailer location on the middle ridge. This stand will be located near several of our majestic namesake oak trees. The setting is all wooded and you will have a clear view into one of our rolling hollows overlooking a stream. The name should be outdoors and hunting appropriate. (Remember I have to see it every day.) It should also be descriptive of the stand and or its surroundings. The stand will be our first combo stand with three larger archery windows and three standard Shadow Hunter gun windows.

Let’s have some fun shaking off the “Cabin Fever” and come up with some great names for our new stand. I will keep you posted on the entries and progress. Only submit one entry per person please.
