Finally Here?

This winter just does not want to let go of us. It was eleven degrees here this morning again but the sun seems to push it up quickly this time of year. All of the birds are singing and the turkeys are gobbling like crazy now. I think they believe that spring is finally here and they are moving ahead even though it is cold. (The attached photos were taken by a friend earlier this morning.) Our snow is well over half gone but still lingering in the hollows and on the North facing slopes. With any luck at all we can rid ourselves of this snow before April arrives.

The snow melt combined with the rains have started to remove the ice from our local tributaries and that means it should be steelhead time soon! It may take a few more days for the water levels to drop to a fishable level but hopefully when it does there will be steelhead waiting for us.
