We have finally turned the corner toward summer in NE Ohio and now we need it to stay warm! We have had more days over eighty degrees this month already and the last three years. These temps have everything growing like crazy and now we need to avoid that late frost! Our apple trees are busting with blossoms and the red oaks are also in full bloom so now is the critical time.

The trophy bucks are still a little behind on the younger bucks because of the time required to add the mass for the bases. Once they have the foundation they can begin to expand into the brow tines and main beams. Some of them are already out past their ears and with any luck they will also be pushing great tine length to match the width.

The steelhead have pretty much dropped back toward the lake and that season is coming to an end for this spring. The turkeys on the other hand are just now starting to get fired up and some of the hens have finally started to set. With the hens setting the gobblers are much more vocal looking for one more girlfriend before the breeding season is over. We still have one week left this season and would like to fill a couple more Spring Gobbler tags!
