Signs of Summer!

We may finally be able to put all of winter 2015 in NE Ohio behind us! There has not been a frost since last Friday morning and that is a good thing at this stage of the growing season. In addition to the warmer temps we also have had an inch and a quarter of rain over the last two days. The jump in our recently clipped clover plots in unbelievable. The rain also made a difference in the apple crop and it looks like most of the trees should have at least some fruit this year.

The fawns are coming on strong now and we have seen at least three already but they do a pretty good job of hiding from us. Just before dark has been the best time to catch them moving around but it creates issues with trying to share photos. Our mature bucks are looking great and the jump they make each week is hard to believe. We are way too early to make any predictions but look out record book because we are off to the best early season to date.

The Ramp Patch received some renovations this last week. All of the stumps have been removed and it has been seeded back to clover. It should be easier to maintain now but now sure how I will act without my yardage stumps? The Acorn Ridge stand has been completely finished now. The new archery/gun window combos have been added, the carpet is installed, and the chairs have been placed. Nothing left to do now but sit a couple of evenings to pattern the deer movement.
