The sand is quickly slipping through the hourglass and it will soon be turned over to start the 2015 Deer Season! The cooler mornings are now requiring light jackets and the first Friday night football games are in the books. Next weekend will mark the end of summer with Labor Day and then it is time to hunt!
We are still watching for the first hints of hard antlers but still have not seen any. A couple of the mature bucks appeared to be shed from a distance this weekend, but upon closer inspection they were still clad in velvet. The velvet is growing tighter and lighter in color every day. It will soon begin to yield to the tree rubbing that will quickly loosen the velvet and clean those trophy antlers!
