Coming Together!

Someone will have to remind me in February of 2016 exactly what we experienced in the third week of September 2015! It has been down into the upper forties overnight and warming up into the low seventies during the day. Bright sunshine has been the order as the early leaves drift to the ground. Everything is now leaning toward fall and the trophy whitetails are in full agreement!

You can hear the antlers clanking together every evening and some of the sparring has started to elevate already into more heated disagreements. They are a long ways from knock down drag outs still but as the necks begin to swell so do the egos! The mature bucks are still more interested finding out the hierarchy than checking the does but you can see them starting to check them.

Our week ended with a great finish for our hunter and we were finally able to close the deal on the “Big Typical”! He scored 225” typical with just over 25” of extras. This buck seemed to have a six sense that so many of the mature bucks possess. We had managed close encounters on several outings but were unable to get a good clean shot with the Ten Point until the evening hunt of the seventh day!
