Ohio Deer Hunting in October!

The month of October finally has our weather feeling like it is deer season. Cooler mornings, leaves falling, rainy days, high winds, and the “Harvest Moon” are all signs that the rut is just around the corner. The mature bucks are ready to get it going early this year and the Ohio deer hunting should only get better.

We have had our share of challenges this season with the weather and a couple of mature bucks that seemed to always be one step ahead of us. All of these challenges only add to our hunting experience here at Oak Ridge. If you stay disciplined and put in the time, there will normally be an opportunity at some point. We have taken some of our best bucks ever this year and it clearly shows the rewards of sticking with it.

Our week finished off with Matthew and his father Brian joining us for the fourth time. It was such a pleasure sharing a great hunt with Matthew and being able to see how much he has matured over the last two years. There are not many adult men, let alone young hunters, that could have passed on the great bucks that Matthew held off on early in his hunt. He wanted a wide typical when he arrived and on the second morning his patience paid off. He made a perfect shot and took a perfect ten point trophy buck with a 23 1/2 inch inside spread!
