Foggy Mornings

We finished up another exciting week with a great ten pointer! With the Ohio gun season in full force around us it slowed our deer movement down considerably for the first couple of days last week. Once the area hunters were tagged out or back to work the deer began to settle down as well. We were treated to a white ground on Thursday morning and it always helps in spotting deer movement. Around noon the snow had melted and the deer held tight as well. Friday morning we were back on stand and with a heavy frost covering the clover we were treated to some secondary rut action. As the younger does came in they brought with them several mature bucks. The buck we were looking for was one of them and we took a perfect 172” perfect ten pointer.

The secondary rut does seem to be heating up a little more this week and the bucks are opening up some of the scrapes again. The deer are still hitting the food harder as the try rebuild from the primary rut. Our weather has been really unseasonably warm still and it has made for some really foggy mornings. Once the fog burns off the deer have been laying pretty tight until closer to evening. They are ready for cooler temperatures and we could use some snow as we head toward our Christmas season!
