Deep Freeze!

For those of us hoping to get some cold winter weather our wishes have come true! We dropped off the cliff over the weekend and have had lows down near zero for the last two mornings! The trails have finally frozen at least on top and it helps to keep the quads cleaner and free of mud at least temporarily. The deer have all moved quickly into their winter feeding patterns moving a lot more during the day light hours and conserving energy at night during the coldest time.
Our bucks have also backed off from the rut activity now and should be trying to re-energize their bodies from the 2 ½ month race. One of the younger bucks has dropped his antlers already and I would assume it is caused by a combination of his no longer breeding and the colder temps. Our plans are to finish our buck hunts before the end of January and it looks like we could have a couple of very exciting weeks ahead!
