Return of the Buzzard!

No I’m not talking about Jeff and Flash! I spotted two turkey vultures circling yesterday afternoon. It was a perfect NE Ohio day and the temperatures rose into the sixties. I guess the South wind was just too much to resist and they just glided in early? There are plenty of road kill and deer season casualties to carry them thru as long as we don’t get another three feet of snow this week!
We had our best afternoon of shed hunting and can up with three really nice additions to our growing collection. The best one sported a nice drop tine and was nice to find before the squirrels. Our trail camera photos are still finding some bucks with antlers but that number gets smaller with each passing day. It will not be long before we are talking fawns and velvet antlers!
The water level in the rivers started to drop a little yesterday and we checked two of the smaller creeks. No fish had found their way up into them yet but the run should be earlier this year with the warmer winter. Most of the ice had been flushed out but some jambs on the banks that could are still creating some access problems in places.
Our turkeys are still flocked up and when you see one you see fifty but they should start to break up more now that the ground has been exposed and the days are getting longer. My early morning trips have produced gobbles but they are not very fired up yet.
