The weather in NE Ohio has finally started to turn toward a more normal trend. The sixty and seventy degree days have been turning everything back to a bright green that has us hoping that we will have a summer this year! The apple blossoms are just starting to pop and with any luck the frost we had earlier this week will be our last of the year. It will be nice to have the roller coaster this month closed for the season!
We have half of our food plots completed with lime and fertilizer and should finish them all before the weekend. As we continue to get closer to our target level on PH the change can easily been seen in the crops. Our clover and alfalfa has never looked better. I also spotted several deer using the cover of our newly created brush piles. Last month in addition to our annual clear cut we added 7-8 new brush piles around the Condo Stand. All of these improvements should help those trophy bucks to reach their full potential this fall!
The steelhead run which was weak at best this year has finished and the warmer water has pushed them back toward the lake. We managed to pull a few fish this year but it was not our normal season and I hope we can get a stronger fall run this year to make up for the lower numbers this spring.
