Crunch Time!

Don’t look now but it is less than a month before hunting season begins for 2016! September will jump off with early goose season and then squirrel season and then…BOW SEASON! It is time now to get out and check those stands and clear those shooting lanes. I had the pleasure of helping two friends this last weekend and we ended up spending nine hours! Had issues with one stand breaking and needed welded to become safe again, another stand had multiple wasp nest, at another location I pushed back the freshly cut brush to place a new stand and discovered a very active honey bee tree! The day ended with three tired hunters, fifteen stands ready for use and several great stories for the dinner table last night!

Our bucks are feeling the fall coming as well and the cooler evenings and mornings have them moving. The velvet continues to tighten and I have spotted a couple of the trophy bucks with the antler tips pushing thru the velvet. As of now we still have multiple mature bucks with great double droptines! I am not sure how we became so blessed this year but the drops sure do add a great look to the trophy bucks! We have at least two or three mature bucks that should push that 300” mark behind them and who knows maybe one of them can give Ted a run for his money on that great 380” ORWA record from last year?
